Cognitive Engineering (human factors) Specialist

SKADRA is recruiting a cognitive engineering specialist to support the Canadian defence. Cognitive engineering is an interdisciplinary field focused on designing computerized systems to enhance human performance, drawing from human factors, human-computer interaction (HCI), cognitive psychology, computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), and other related disciplines.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, administer and analyse questionnaires, interviews and defence and security experiments.
  • Conduct studies in controlled environments or in the field under operational conditions, compile and analyse the results, and identify their limitations.
  • Apply standards related to human factors (e.g., MIL-STD-1472F, MIL-HBK-759C, MIL-HB-46855).
  • Apply the principles of human system integration (HSI) using the concepts of System-of-Systems (SoS), HSI and experience.
  • Research and apply AI in areas like cognitive modelling, training and decision support for complex systems, human behaviour simulation, and eye-voice interfaces.
  • Perform risk assessment and modelling and conduct cognitive task analysis and social network analysis.
  • Develop intelligent training systems, advanced HCI technologies, and human behavioural models.
  • Identify and measure effectiveness and performance metrics (MOEs and MOPs).

Manage and provide leadership in cognitive engineering projects.

What
you need

  • Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) related to the field (cognitive science, cognitive psychology, HCI, computer science, AI, etc.) with 5+ years of relevant experience OR master’s degree related to the field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work in a team, be independent, take initiative and enjoy learning.
