We are recruiting a sensemaking specialist to support the Canadian defence. This role involves supporting decision making in complex, ambiguous and uncertain situations, and contributing to the development of capabilities and systems to model, anticipate and convey a clear understanding of these situations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create individual and collective processes that integrate tacit knowledge (such as experience, expertise, and culture) with real-time information to develop effective models of the situation.
  • Develop tools to extract key activities and patterns from the operational environment and share this awareness with relevant participants across the network.
  • Design capabilities to project current activities and patterns into potential future scenarios, helping to identify new opportunities and threats.
  • Create methods to generate options, predict adversary behaviour, and understand the effects of decisions in their social, political, and economic contexts.
  • Implement information fusion systems using technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and data fusion.
  • Design and implement expert systems.
  • Conduct decision analysis studies in areas such as information imperfection (e.g., probability and fuzzy sets), data fusion, classification theories, and pattern recognition.
  • Design and implement systems in fields like AI, optimization, business intelligence, and decision support.

What
you need

  • Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) related to the field (information science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, data/information fusion, etc.) with 5+ years of relevant experience OR 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work in a team, be independent, take initiative and enjoy learning.

What
we offer

  • A relaxed atmosphere and a work environment based on team spirit, communication and professional fulfillment;
  • A streamlined, flexible hierarchical structure – more of a mentor than a boss!
  • Flexible working hours of 37.5 hours per week to accommodate your quality of life;
  • A stimulating career;
  • An excellent work-life balance: family leave, telecommuting depending on customer needs, group insurance paid 50% by the employer;
  • Exquisite 5@7s, plus social and sports activities throughout the year;
  • High-quality coffee (espresso, cappuccino, etc.) on tap. Yes, that’s the way we are!
